Better in time

I remember that Albert Camus once wrote: "Blessed are the hearts that can bend; for they shall never be broken".

But then I wonder, if there's no breaking of hearts, then there's no healing.
And if there's no healing, then there can be no learning.
And if there's no learning, then there's no struggle at all.
And struggle is a part of life.

So I wonder must all hearts be broken?

Where do broken hearts go?

Whitney Houston's once famous song has me thinking on where do broken hearts go? Can they find their way home?

I'm waiting to get a break from being sad. I'm thinking how long it's gonna take before this bad, bad feelings go away. I was re-reading my journal this morning and something I wrote last year (journal entry: 21 feb 2007) got me thinking. Sometimes the danger we face in life is making our own happiness dependent on one person. And when this person hurt us, we render ourselves powerless.

This is a hard lesson to learn, it's easier said than done. I need to constantly remind myself this each day.
We need to learn to love ourselves first. And treat ourselves with value and respect. That way, even when we are hurt and down, our spirits will not be broken.

Psalm 147:3 says "He heals the broken hearted & binds up their wounds"

What's the Real Secret of Success?

The great automaker Walter Chrysler once said "the real secret to success is enthusiasm". Steve Chandler in this book - The Story of You said, it takes more than enthusiasm, it takes excitement.
I believe it takes both.

When people get excited and have enthusiasm in what they do, they make a success of their lives.

Most of the time, people wait for excitement to happen in their lives. It's like they take a ticket and wait for their turn. For something. For someone.

The thing with excitement; it doesn't work that way. Excitement, just like enthusiasm is an inner phenomenon. It starts within us, not outside of us. People released from solitary confinement get excited and have enthusiasm when seeing the sun shine.

This excitement they feel is created by their perspective of life. Their excitement is based on how they see things. And how they see things in life depends on the lens they are wearing which is called the story of them.

What's the real secret of success for you?

What's the height of your success?

Harold Thurman Whitman once wrote “Don’t ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive and then go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive”.

People often lose games, lose money, lose their career and lose a spouse to divorce without becoming a loser. When we lose at something in life, it’s often very easy to create a ‘loser’ story around it. However, we should compose a ‘brave’ story that says “I am brave, bold and unafraid of losing. I even laugh at defeat”.

We could actually do that but we rarely do. Instead, we almost always draw conclusions about ourselves when things go wrong and spin a tale around those conclusions so that we end up living inside a truly painful story.

We love being victims. We should lose our victim stories. The past is history. We should not see ourselves as a loser. Why? Because that’s simply not our story.
These victim stories do not serve us. They stifle us.

Instead a daily mantra might help: “The depth of your struggle will determine the height of your success”.

Realized.

I've been thinking alot about Colbie Caillat's new song 'Realized'. I believe that even though we try to be tough, we let our guard down and let people into our lives. Taking that risk, sometimes pays off and other times, it doesn't. Is it worth all the trouble putting yourself through? I don't think so especially since others don't really gives a damn!

If you just can't realized what I realized,
That we'd be prefect for each other
We'll never find another
Just realized what I realized
We never have to wonder
It's not the same
No, it's never the same
If you don't feel it too
If you meet me half way
If you would just meet me half way
It could be the same for you

Money $

I was reading this book on the 'Choice' we make in our lives. How these decisions we make affect our entire life. Whether for the better or worse! It can be scary to even think maybe our decisions are wrong ones and that our lives could be better if along the 'road travelled' we made other choices and followed another path. Would we still be here? Would I still be here? Where I am?

Then I was thinking about money. I don't think that money is the most important thing in life, I don't. But I do believe with money, many dreams can become a reality.

Even though money isn't the most important thing in life, it does affect the most important things in our lives. It affects our stress level, which affects our relationships. It affects the kind of car we can afford, which affects our safety. It affects where we live, which affects our family.

Like it or not, our freedom is a function of money. The main reason we work, sometimes even on weekends is because of money.

I read a newspaper story of a man in UK who won millions of pounds, but all he wants in this life is more time, not more money. Time to spend with his family as he is dying.

Like others, I have two thoughts on money! But I do like 'Graham Nash' quote: "Is the money you make worth the price that you pay?"

Crossroads

Robert Frost once said: "Two roads diverged in the forest, and I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference".

In life we are often presented with life's crossroads, and we have decisions to make.

These decisions are not easy ones, as a series of consequences and experiences await us along the chosen path.

It is the ultimate lesson in cause and effect.

Now the trick is to anticipate what is inherent in the choice prior to making it...sounds easy right? Not really..

Hence, we need to choose our paths wisely - a purpose driven path filled with adventure, fun, excitement and fulfillment.

It is this path which will lead to our best life.

Feel Good Thoughts

"Nothing can come into your experience unless you summon it through persistent thoughts".

The importance of our feelings cannot be overstated. Our feelings let us know what we're thinking. Our feelings are the greatest tool to help us create our life.

Do you believe that our thoughts are the primary cause of everything that happens in our life? Everything we see and experience in this world is effect and that includes our feelings. The cause is always our thoughts.

Our feelings tell us very quickly what we're thinking. Our feelings are an immediate signal for us to know what we are thinking.

So the next time you are sad and depressed, it's because you had bad thoughts! Thus, be careful of what you think!
